August Classroom Guidance
During the month of August, we visited each classroom with the goal of introducing ourselves and reminding/teaching students what the counselor's job is about.
Pre-K, K, 1st and 2nd grades: Through books, characters like Sad Monster, Glad Monster and Mr. Potato head the Pre-K-2nd grade talked with Mrs. Pierce about feelings, how a counselor helps you with your feelings as well as other task a school counselor has. The students enjoyed Mrs. Pierce's fun and silly lessons!
3rd, 4th and 5th grade students joined Mrs. Fell in an interactive activity in which props were used as reminders. For example, glasses were a reminder counselors help you look at things from all aspects; gloves were a reminder that counselors always have a helping hand. The students were great participants and I enjoyed meeting all of them!
